Say it aint so Netflix!
Yesterday the streaming juggernaut, Netflix, announced that the popular series Sense8 would be cancelled after just two season.
In a statement, Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP of original content, noted that Sense8 was “everything we and the fans dreamed it would be: bold, emotional, stunning, kick-ass, and outright unforgettable. Never has there been a more truly global show with an equally diverse and international cast and crew, which is only mirrored by the connected community of deeply passionate fans all around the world. We thank Lana, Lilly, Joe and Grant for their vision, and the entire cast and crew for their craftsmanship and commitment.”
Personally I am extremely saddened by this, Sense8 was a show that really celebrated diversity, and it kind of seems like such a slap in the face by Netflix to cancel such an important show on the 1st day of Pride month. Fans have already started online petitions to keep the show going, with one petition already gaining 100K signatures.
I hope that somehow Netflix changes their mind and decides to shoot a season 3 or at least shoot an epic 2 and a half hour movie finale. In the meantime we have to say goodbye to the characters we fell in love with, gone so soon.
